How the conversion works
Weekly pay is the starting point. An hourly rate times your hours gives weekly pay; weekly pay times paid weeks gives the yearly salary, and a month is a twelfth of the year. A fortnight is two weeks and a day is the week divided by the days you work.
Example. €15.00 an hour for 39 hours is €585.00 a week. Over 52 weeks that is €30,420 a year, or €2,535.00 a month.
Minimum wage rates
| Age | 2026 | 2027 (announced) |
|---|---|---|
| 20 or over | €14.15 | €14.94 |
| 19 | €12.74 | €13.45 |
| 18 | €11.32 | €11.95 |
| Under 18 | €9.91 | €10.46 |
| Adult, 39 hours a week, a year | €28,696 | €30,298 |
A full-time adult on the minimum wage in 2026 earns €28,696 a year before tax and takes home about €25,347, or €487.45 a week. Rates for workers under 20 are a share of the adult rate. The minimum wage is set each year by ministerial order; announced rates are not final until the order is made.
